Initial Psychiatric Evaluation

Initial assessments begin with the patient/legal guardian submitting an inquiry on this website. The patient/legal guardian will receive a phone call from Hope Restored Psychiatry to schedule the intake appointment. Patients will open the patient portal and complete intake forms before the initial appointment. This appointment will last approximately 75 minutes and include an interview with the parent and child together and separately. Dr. Bullard will assess the emotional, cognitive, educational, physical, genetic, developmental, family, peer, and social components of the patient's presenting problem. Dr. Bullard will also review current medical records. Dr. Bullard may request additional information and assessments, such as labs and screening questionnaires for some patients, before formulating a final diagnosis and treatment plan. Patients will return for a standard medication management follow-up appointment to complete the initial assessment. This appointment will last about 20-25 minutes. The treatment plan may or may not include medication.

If a patient is in active treatment with a therapist before initiating an evaluation with Dr. Bullard, she will coordinate treatment with that therapist as needed.

Dr. Bullard does not perform psychiatric evaluations for legal purposes such as child custody evaluations, establishing grounds for a personal injury claim or obtaining social security disability income.

In Compliance with the No Surprise Act of 2022, the initial psychiatric assessment currently costs $450 but for the months of June - August 2024, initial psychiatric assessments are discounted to $400. The standard medication follow-up visits cost $225/visit.

Medication Management (Follow-Up)

During a psychiatric medication management appointment, Dr. Bullard will meet with the patient to discuss their current medications, any side effects experienced, and the overall effectiveness of the treatment. She will also inquire about the patient's mental health status, any changes in symptoms, and life circumstances. Based on this information, Dr. Bullard may or may not adjust medication dosage or type. Dr. Bullard will provide guidance, support, and education regarding the medications. The aim is to ensure the patient's treatment plan is optimal for their mental health needs. The medication management follow-up appointments will last 20-25 minutes and cost $225 per visit. Suppose a patient is taking multiple medications with several acute mental health concerns. In that case, Dr. Bullard will recommend scheduling an extended follow-up appointment to allow more time to discuss these concerns and manage the medications. The extended medication follow-up appointments will last 45-50 minutes and cost $300.
